How much cash can you carry?

There is no limit on the amount, the obligation is to declare rather than to stay below a cap. Declare AED 60,000 or more on entry to United Arab Emirates.

Families and groups

The threshold applies to the combined amount carried by a family or group travelling together: not to each person separately.

Declare currency, bearer negotiable instruments, precious metals or precious stones above AED 60,000 or the equivalent. Moving cash in or out is not itself illegal, failing to declare it is.

Taking cash out

AED 60,000

Reporting threshold. Carry what you like, declare above this.

The same AED 60,000 threshold applies on departure, and to cash sent by post, cargo or courier.
