Can Belgian franc notes still be exchanged for euro?
Yes: with no deadline. Nationale Bank van België / Banque Nationale de Belgique still exchanges Belgian franc banknotes for euro, and has set no end date. Coins, however, stopped being accepted on 31 December 2004.
Fixed conversion rate
The rate was fixed permanently by Council Regulation (EC) No 2866/98 and never changes: €1 = 40.3399 BEF .
Where to exchange
Only the national central bank redeems these, commercial banks and bureaux de change generally will not. See Nationale Bank van België / Banque Nationale de Belgique for current procedure.
