Can Spanish peseta notes still be exchanged for euro?
No: the deadline has passed. Banco de España stopped exchanging Spanish peseta banknotes on 30 June 2021. They can no longer be redeemed for euro at face value, though notes in good condition may still have collector value.
Fixed conversion rate
The rate was fixed permanently by Council Regulation (EC) No 2866/98 and never changes: €1 = 166.386 ESP .
Where to exchange
Only the national central bank redeems these, commercial banks and bureaux de change generally will not. See Banco de España for current procedure.
